Claude AI: More Than Chat - This One Builds, Codes, and Analyzes

I’ve been using Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity for different reasons. On the surface, they all seem similar. You type something and they respond. But if you’ve spent real time with these tools, you’ll quickly realize: not all LLM-Powered AI Assistants are built the same. This begs the question, what is Claude? Claude is way ahead of its class when it comes to building charts and coding. It can easily understand documents, parse data, and spit out visualizations and charts. Whether I need the Ghana Stock Exchange data to be displayed in an interactive chart or simply want to convert a list of items into a clean table, Claude handles it efficiently - and often gets it right the first time.

What is Claude?

Claude is an AI assistant created by Anthropic, an AI safety company founded in 2021 by former members of OpenAI, including Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei. Its latest version, Claude Sonnet 4.5, was released in September 2025 and features a large context window of up to 200,000 tokens. You can access this AI tool through their website, mobile and desktop apps, or integrate it into your own applications through Anthropic's API.

How Claude Can Benefit The Average African

I firmly believe that Africans must make the most out of the available AI tools to become more productive in their respective fields. Claude AI can help Africans in the following ways;

• Kick‑start coding & apps: Many African developers and SMEs may not have access to large dev teams. Claude helps you generate, debug, and deploy code faster. According to Data Studios, Claude’s benchmarks outperformed GPT‑4 on some coding tests with higher accuracy and larger context windows.
• Create Charts, graphs & visual analysis: Claude can understand documents and display visualizations and charts. You can even type changes to such charts, and it does them accurately. You can present your data beautifully with prompts.
• Education & research upgrade: Students and researchers can use Claude to break down complex academic papers, prepare for exams, or draft research proposals without expensive tutoring services.

Final Thoughts

After months of daily use, I've come to see Claude as more than just another AI tool. It’s my go-to tool for when I need to visualize an idea. While other AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini have their strengths, Claude's combination of technical prowess, thoughtful reasoning, and genuine understanding of context makes it uniquely valuable.
